About Via Devotio
Via Devotio exists to help leaders, congregations, and individuals rediscover a deeper way of life with God—one rooted in devotion, discernment, and the transforming presence of the Holy Spirit.
In a world where many Christians feel exhausted, distracted, or spiritually thin, Via Devotio offers a path back to sustainable faith and lived communion.
Our Purpose
Modern spiritual life is often reduced to trying harder, thinking better, or managing religious activity. This leads to a subtle form of faith shaped more by self-effort than by the Spirit’s work—what many have called a Moralistic Therapeutic Deism (MTD) mindset.
Via Devotio exists to offer a faithful alternative.
We help leaders and congregations move from self-driven religion to Spirit-led formation, from burnout to belovedness, and from information overload to a rhythm of life grounded in Scripture, prayer, and discernment.
Our Mission
Via Devotio forms spiritually grounded leaders and communities by restoring devotion, cultivating discernment, and integrating historic Christian practices into contemporary life and ministry.
Whether through spiritual direction, formation cohorts, workshops, retreats, or congregational renewal processes, every offering is designed to deepen attention, expand spiritual imagination, and help disciples discern the movements of God in daily life.
Our Vision
We envision a Church renewed in devotion—where:
-
Leaders minister from belovedness rather than exhaustion
-
Congregations learn to listen for God’s movements
-
Formation is integrated into the rhythms of everyday life
-
Worship, community, and personal practice work together
-
Spiritual maturity grows from sustained attention to Christ
This is not a new program. It is a return to the ancient way: a life of prayer, humility, Scripture, and transformation animated by the Spirit.
What We Offer
1. Spiritual Direction
Confidential, one-on-one or group conversations that help individuals attend to God’s presence, interpret interior movements, and cultivate sustainable rhythms of prayer and discernment.
2. Workshops & Retreats
The Spent & Sustained workshop and other customized retreats help leaders move from depletion to renewal through reflection, guided prayer, and practical frameworks for sustainable ministry.
3. Formation Cohorts
Cohorts such as Leading Spiritual Conversations, Pastoral Renewal Cohort, and congregational experiences like 60 Days of Discernment equip leaders to guide others in discernment, prayer, and communal transformation.
4. Teaching, Preaching & Resources
Via Devotio provides homiletical frameworks, liturgical guidance, teaching liturgies, practice guides, sermon series, and downloadable resources to support churches in becoming “devotion-first” communities.
Our Distinctives
Via Devotio integrates five commitments that shape every offering:
-
Belovedness before effort
Identity is received, not achieved. -
Attention as devotion
Formation begins with cultivating a prayerful gaze toward God. -
Ancient wisdom for modern lives
Patristic insights, monastic practices, and historic rhythms guide contemporary formation. -
Discernment as a way of life
We teach individuals and communities to listen, test, and respond to God’s movements. -
The Spirit is the primary agent of transformation
We do not teach self-improvement. We teach receptivity, surrender, and abiding.
