In the morning, O Lord, You will hear my voice;

In the Morning I will order my prayer to you and eagerly watch.

Psalm 5:3 (NASB)

Every morning you’ll hear me at it again.

Every morning I will lay out the pieces of my life on your altar

and watch for fire to descend.

Psalm 5:3 (The Message)

DOES GOD HAVE A FAVORITE TIME?

IN THE MORNING, O LORD

Mornings; the image of a new beginning, the end of night, when our time of rest ends and purposeful life begins again.

Or…

Mornings; the image of a late start and being behind, the end of beloved sleep, when our time of much needed rest is interrupted again and the meaningless of life and the daily grind begins again.

Our day is formed in the morning. Our disposition for the day ahead of us is formed in the morning. It is God’s favorite time of the day. Morning is the symbol of hope and new life. Morning is the time that joy finally arrives after a long night of watchfulness. We wait for God arise upon us like we wait for the morning sun to rise. Morning is a time of revelation. Darkness flees and the light illuminates all things.

Morning is a time of prayer, worship, and sacrifice. Morning is the time to encounter God and to acknowledge that God our relationship with God is the only thing that can sustain us.

Disciples of Jesus know that devotion to God is formed in the morning. They have come to realize that our prayers are ordered in the morning and that the disposition of watching for God is set in our hearts in the morning. Disciples know the value of time spent with God in the morning before the routines of life distract us.
